OBJECTIVES

Wellington College China seeks a dynamic Associate Director of Professional Learning and Organizational Growth. This will be another step forward in transforming The Bridge—our newly formed research, innovation, and organizational growth unit—towards a renewed vision focused on shared instructional and curricular excellence and aligned strategic development. This role is central to realizing our commitment to pioneering pedagogy, transformative innovation and educational excellence across our network of schools.

The Associate Director will support and inspire schools, facilitate professional learning featuring modern and relevant research, drive group-wide strategic projects and programmes, and amplify the group’s collective expertise. The ideal candidate will hold a rare blend of strategic acumen, pedagogical and curriculum expertise, and inspiring leadership, partnering with senior leaders, teachers, and staff to promote and embed world-class and pioneering educational best practice group-wide.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Curriculum & Instruction Leadership

1. Serves a leader in the field of education, designing and delivering high-impact professional development (workshops, institutes, seminars) to advance teaching excellence.

2. Effectively support—through coaching, mentoring, training and clear standards and expectations--the alignment and execution of the group’s curriculum and instructional vision across all areas of our schools.

3. Researches and collects inspiration from national and international sources, analyzing global educational trends, emerging technologies, and disruptive pedagogies to keep the group at the forefront of best practices.

4. Cultivates strategic partnerships, nurturing existing relationships and forging new alliances with organizations, corporations and schools related to education leadership domestically and globally.

Programme & Project Management

1. Develops and coordinates community engagement and professional learning programmes that amplify the group’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.

2. Drives select group-wide strategic projects, meeting annual objectives set with the Director of The Bridge, and ensures accountability through milestone tracking and reporting.

3. Elevates Wellington College’s reputation by leading and managing programmes and events that reinforce its educational leadership locally, nationally, and globally.

4. Overseas group-wide academic competitions (e.g., writing, mathematics) and signature programmes (e.g., arts festival), ensuring alignment with the group’s educational vision and excellence in execution.

5. Grows aspiring and early career teachers, leading and managing the Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Programme for iPGCE candidates.

6. Steers the Annual China Festival of Education in partnership with the Director of The Bridge, contributing to its vision, planning, and operational success.

Stakeholder Engagement, Collaboration and Scaling

1. Serves as a liaison between The Bridge and individual schools, ensuring alignment in group and school level strategic priorities.

2. Acts as a key influencer, fostering collaboration and championing knowledge-sharing between schools, phases/divisions, departments, initiatives, teams, and people to scale best practices and drive improvement.

3. Supports the adoption of shared systems, policies, and process across schools, fostering alignment and scalability as the school group matures.


BASIC QUALIFICATION

Education: A Master’s Degree, or higher, in Educational Leadership, Curriculum, or a related field.

Language: Proficient in oral and written English

Working experience: A minimum of ten years teaching experience, with at least five in an educational or research leadership role like this one and/ or experience as a Principal, Head of Division, Deputy Head or Curriculum Director.

⚫ Skilled in coaching and mentoring to encourage a culture of reflective dialogue around teaching and learning.

⚫ Strong project management skills with a track record of successful implementation.

⚫ Curriculum experience with the programs such as the International Baccalaureate, A-Levels, IGCSE, Chinese National Curriculum.
