OBJECTIVES

To assume responsibility for teaching Chemistry (IB and IGCSE) and KS3 General Science (when appropriate)

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Teach IB and IGCSE Chemistry, and general Science to Years 7–8, modelling best practice in teaching, assessment, and intervention.
  • Plan and deliver an engaging, contemporary Science curriculum that reflects current developments and emphasises practical and investigative work.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, College policy, and Science Department development plans.
  • Participate in regular quality assurance and audits within your teaching area.
  • Engage in relevant professional development and share best practice with colleagues.
  • Uphold and implement College policies, promoting the College’s values through teaching and learning.
  • Maintain high expectations for pupil progress, behaviour, and responsible use of departmental resources.
  • Prepare reports, analyse summative data, and monitor pupil performance against targets.
  • Provide strong pastoral support and demonstrate professionalism in all pupil interactions.
  • Lead and promote co-curricular Science activities across the College.
  • Support the coordination and effective use of departmental resources, working collaboratively with staff and technicians.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety policies and regulations (UK and Chinese standards).
  • Undertake other duties as reasonably required to support the College’s objectives.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATION

 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree, recognised teaching qualification 

 

Major: Chemistry or related degree 

 

Language: English

 

Working experience: 2 years as full time Chemistry teacher

 

EXPERTISE

  • Chemistry Teaching: Extensive experience teaching Chemistry at the sixth form level, with a robust understanding of organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry.
  • IB Chemistry Experience preferred: Proven ability in teaching International Baccalaureate (IB) Chemistry, showcasing innovative integration of various chemistry concepts.
  • Active Professional Development: Ongoing commitment to professional growth through workshops, conferences, and the adoption of cutting-edge educational technologies.
  • ICT skills: To include Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint) and database systems. 


PREFERRED APTITUDES

  • Ability to teach another Science subject at IGCSE. 
  • Understanding of AI and how to implement AI into the workflow. 
  • Relevant research or industry experience. 
  • Commitment to lifelong learning. Ability to embrace change.
  • Strong passion for the education of young children
  • Personal integrity, accountability and credibility.
