Description & Requirements

OBJECTIVES 

The Learning Mentor will be responsible for supporting the social, emotional, and holistic development of pupils in HAH Primary School. The role involves working closely with the Head of Pastoral to identify areas of need and develop strategies to support positive behaviour, pupil leadership, service learning, pastoral care, and pastoral target setting etc.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the development and implementation of behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour, positive reinforcement and prevent challenging behaviour.
  • Work with pupils to develop their leadership skills and encourage them to take on leadership roles within the school.
  • Develop and deliver service-learning opportunities for pupils to encourage them to contribute to their local community.
  • Provide pastoral care and support to pupils who may be experiencing personal or emotional difficulties.
  • Set pastoral targets for pupils and work with them to achieve these targets.
  • Work with teachers and other staff to identify pupils who may need additional support and develop strategies to support them
  • Provide training and support through modelling, mentoring and coaching to staff on behaviour management and the strategies for building pupil-teacher relationship and creating a caring community.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and provide regular reports to the Head of Pastoral.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Experience of working in a similar role in a school or other educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both Chinese and English.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and techniques.
  • Understanding of pupil leadership and service learning.
  • Understanding of pastoral care and target setting.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
