Description & Requirements

OBJECTIVES

The Pupil Support Department Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the Special Education team in addressing the diverse needs of pupils with special educational needs. The intern will gain hands-on experience in collaborating with educators, administrators, and other professionals to create an inclusive learning environment.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Assist in Individualised Education Programme (IEP) Development

  • Collaborate with SEN teachers and specialists in the development and implementation of individualised education plans for pupils with special needs.
  • Help gather and organise relevant information for IEP meetings.

Classroom Support

  • Provide assistance in SEN classrooms, working with pupils individually or in small groups under the guidance of a qualified SEN teacher.
  • Support the implementation of differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of pupils.

Data Collection and Analysis

  • Assist in collecting and analysing data related to pupil progress, behaviour, and other relevant metrics.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of accurate records for each pupil with special needs.

Resource Development

  • Aid in the development of instructional materials and resources that cater to various learning styles and abilities.
  • Collaborate with teachers to adapt existing materials to meet the needs of pupils with diverse abilities.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Foster effective communication between teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure a holistic approach to each pupil's education.
  • Attend team meetings and contribute insights on pupil progress and strategies.

Professional Development

  • Participate in relevant professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to special education.
  • Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in the field of special education.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATION

 

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant programme in special education, education, psychology, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Sensitivity to the diverse needs of pupils with special educational needs.
  • Bi-lingual (English & Chinese)

 

PREFERRED SKILLS

 

  • Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive teaching strategies.
  • Experience working with individuals with various disabilities.
  • Basic understanding of assessment tools and techniques in special education.
  • Calm and patient.
