OBJECTIVES
To deliver outstanding English Language and Literature provision to second language learners in the Secondary School
MAIN TASKS
- To deliver English language provision to second language learners. This includes English for Academic Purposes (EAP) support lessons and a differentiated Key Stage 3 English Language and literature course. The ability to teach exam groups in second language would be an advantage.
- To further develop and shape schemes of work and assessment strategies with the Head of ELL to ensure continued growth and best practice using the latest pedagogical approaches.
To effectively use benchmarking tools such as CAT4, PTE, and IXL for data-driven subject support and progress testing
To support the ELL department in producing Individual Language Learning Plans (ILLLPs) for broader use by departments
To provide guidance and support to subject departments on the use of strategies to improve whole school ELL provision. Including supporting the group-wide Oracy strategy (Voice 21)
The ability to also teach first language English Language and Literature as part of the KS3 English National Curriculum or to exam groups (IGCSE / IB) would be an advantage.
- To support the college’s pastoral care provision through tutoring
- To support the college's commitment to holistic education through the cross-curriculum programme (CCA) and support of college events
BASIC QUALIFICATION
Education: Bachelor’s Degree and recognised teaching qualification
Language: English
Working experience: 2 years as a full-time teacher of English language
EXPERTISE
- English language: Experience teaching pupils with English as their second language
- Data-driven approach: Expertise in using data and benchmarking systems to identify, support and monitor the progress of pupils.
- Active Professional Development: Ongoing commitment to professional growth through workshops, conferences, and the adoption of cutting-edge educational technologies.
- ICT skills: To include Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint) database systems, and AI tools.
